Twelfth week: wrapping up
My last week at Facebook … it seemed so long until I could finally return to my beloved Anneleen. Simultaneously, time seems to have flown by.
Eleventh week: last struggles & Holiday Party
On Monday, I worked on getting my code committed and tied up many loose ends. I got very positive feedback from my manager! :)
Tenth week: Facebook swag, double victory, C++11
On Monday, I finally got Qt committed (if you’ve been reading my blog, then you’ll know that I started this two weeks ago). It cost me about five full work days.
Ninth week: `--static`, Thanksgiving and tofurkey
My ninth week here can be summarized very briefly: the work week was very short. Thanks to Thanksgiving on Thursday, we got off on Thursday and Friday.
Eighth week: static Qt, pizookie & American football
This week, I finally got around to reporting an issue that has been bothering me for a long time on Facebook.
Seventh week: Google, Cirque du Soleil and JOHNNIAC
Monday was the first day after Anneleen left. Obviously a sad day. Plus, due to the lack of sleep the night before she left, I was still feeling very tired.
Sixth week: Engineering summit & Anneleen's visit
Facebook, or well, my manager, graciously allowed me to take two days off — I believe in large part because I had been working so hard in the first 5 weeks of my internship.
Fifth week: "work hard, play hard", Stanford & Palo Alto
This week, I worked very hard to get as much work done as possible — as I did the preceding weeks, but with renewed energy and focus — before Anneleen would arrive Saturday that week.
Fourth week: impostor, "Belgium?" & MV FAST
On Monday, I biked to Facebook and back. Since I left early, it was cold. Very cold. Belgium cold. What’s worse though, is the state of biking.
Third week: biking to SF on the Super Safe Clown Show
This workweek was rather uneventful. I just worked very hard on pushing my project forward.
Second week: indoor skydiving, Alcatraz & scavenger hunt
On the Tuesday of the second week, I started feeling very much at home here in the sunny Silicon Valley.
First week at Facebook
While I obviously can’t publish the details here, the orientation was very cool.
Facebook internship: getting there
I didn’t expect the goodbye to be easy, but I never expected it to be so hard, either. I think it was one of the hardest things I ever did, on that 23rd of September, 2011.
